My New Beginning, a department of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – White Rock, is designated an Accredited Center under the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program of the American College of Surgeons and American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. This joint accreditation program ensures that participating centers are required to meet certain standards that relate to numerous patient care areas, including case volume, commitment to quality care, continuous quality improvement, continuum of care, critical care support, and appropriate equipment and instruments. These standards are a blueprint for continued and future safe and effective outcomes for patients undergoing bariatric surgery.

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – White Rock, has been designated an Aetna Institute of Quality® Bariatric Surgery Facility for treating individuals living with morbid, or extreme, obesity.

Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery

Recognized by Blue Cross Blue Shield as being named a Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery ® is an honor for My New Beginning, a department of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – White Rock. To achieve this recognition, the hospital met numerous criteria that included: full accreditation from The Joint Commission or Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program, a required volume of bariatric surgeries during the recent 12 month reporting period, staffing by an experienced and appropriately credentialed bariatric surgical team, and utilization of appropriate equipment and staffing.

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – White Rock is named a CIGNA Certified Hospital for Bariatric Surgery. This designation means the hospital has met CIGNA’s rigorous quality standards.

The CIGNA designation is based on multiple criteria — including full approval by the Surgical Review Corporation; meeting CIGNA clinical outcome thresholds for complications, mortality, re-admission within 30 days of discharge and re-operation within 30 days after initial operation; range of obesity services; and number of bariatric surgery procedures performed.
